David Foster est un compositeur et producteur canadien né le 1er novembre 1949 à Victoria (Canada).
David a été inscrit comme étudiant à l'Université de Washington à l'âge de 13 ans.
Il était le joueur de clavier du groupe pop Skylark dont le titre le plus connu est “Wildflower” en 1972 et il a réalisé la chanson officiel des JO 1996 d'été avec Babyface et l'hymne des JO de Calgary en 1988. Sa première grande contribution fut sur l'album "I am" de Earth, Wind & Fire en 1979 en composant notamment "After the Love Has Gone" qui remporta un Grammy Award pour la meilleure chanson R & B en 1980.
Sa consécration fut en 1992 avec la production des pistes sur la B.O de Bodyguard.
Il a été nommé de BMI "Auteur-compositeur de l'année".
En 2013, David produit les albums "Passione" du chanteur italien Andrea Bocelli et "A Mary Christmas" de Mary J. Blige.
En 1995, Michael fait appel à ses services pour la production, les arrangements ainsi que le piano sur les pistes comme "Earth Song et "Smile". Ce ne fut pas leur première collaboration puisqu'en 1979, David afvait composé la piste "It's Falling in Love" sur l'album "Off The Wall".
En 2014, David jouera du piano et s'occupera des arrangements de l'album " Wallflower" de Diana Krall, une chanteuse de jazz canadienne.
