Ce titre fut enregistré lors du session de Thriller mais il a été retiré au profit de titre meilleur. Le titre Nightline a été repris par Ellen Foley.
"Quand j'ai appris que Nite Line n'allait pas être pris pour Thriller, j'ai juste dit, je serai sur l'album suivant," dit Ballard en 1999."Thriller s'est révélé être le bon karma. J'estime que si Nite Line avait été sur le Thriller, je n'aurais jamais écrit à Man in the Mirror, qui est une des meilleure chanson dans mon catalogue".Brie Howard,l'autre compositrice de la musique est un musicienne américaine qui est à l'origine du groupe rock Fanny où elle était la percussioniste.Brie a également collaboré avec Carole King,Ringo Starr et Peter Criss.Enfin le dernier compositeur du titre est David Farragher, un bassiste californien,qui a collaboré avec Kiss,Andrew Rigdeley ou encore Dianne Brooks.
