Steve Hodge est le mixeur attitré de Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis avecqui il gagne un Grammy Award en 1986. Mais c'est en été 1969 qu'il travaillait pour le producteur Val Valentin puis deux ans en Louisiane.
A la fin des années 70,il revient à Los Angeles pour Solar Records pour mixer et remixer des chansons puis durant les années 80, il rencontré Jam et Lewis.
